Kidz Mob recognises and acknowledges the importance of providing food that is both nutritious and appropriate to the needs of the children attending OSHC. The service encourages and promotes the health and wellbeing of children through providing positive learning experiences during meal/snack times where good nutritional food habits are developed in a happy, social environment, in alignment with Smart Choices - the Healthy Food and Drink Strategy for Queensland Schools and PANOSH’s (Physical, Activity & Nutrition Outside School Hours) Guidelines and Australian Dietary Guidelines for children and Adolescents in Australia. Parents/guardians are encouraged to participate in this approach to nutrition for their children.
Kidz Mob will provide food;
Kidz Mob is committed to creating an inclusive environment that is safe and accessible for all children. To create this environment, Kidz Mob will make accommodations and put strategies in place to support children with special dietary requirements or cultural needs.
The following is an exert from Kidz Mob’s Dietary Requirements/Needs Policy.
Our enrolment forms have questions regarding whether a child has any specific dietary requirements (including allergies and anaphylaxis), cultural needs or significant food aversions. When the enrolment is received, if your child has any of these dietary needs, Kidz Mob will discuss them further with you to gain medical documentation (where relevant), discuss acceptable alternatives, and make a plan for your child’s dietary needs at the service.
Kidz Mob management (and educators) will seek to accommodate all such reasonable nutritional needs. This includes purchasing different foods to be stored at the service as alternate options when the meal provided doesn’t meet your child’s dietary or cultural needs. Where children have special dietary needs which is not reasonable that the service meet, Kidz Mob will consult with parents and where necessary, the meal will be supplied from home. When parents provide food for their child, healthy food and drink choices are encouraged.
All of this information will be shared with the team to ensure everyone is aware of the plan in place for your child and can support their dietary needs.
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government entitlement where the government pays a portion of your fees direct to Kidz Mob to reduce your out-of-pocket cost.
The entitlement that a parent/caregiver receives is determined by Centrelink's Childcare Subsidy Assessment. Eligible families can receive up to 90% off their sessions fees.
You’ll need to apply for CCS through Centrelink, via your MyGov account.
You’ll receive a notification from Centrelink if your claim has been assessed or approved.
For further information you can contact Centrelink on 13 61 50.
If you want Outside School Hours Care that is community and family focused, inclusive, safe and of course, fun! You have come to the right place.
